WHY NOTHING EVER CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE (AND HOW IT FINALLY CAN)

Isaiah 55 & Jesus’ Parable of the Sower | Pastor Darryn Scheske | Sunday, July 9, 2026

SPANISH NOTES

Yet just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down And do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, Giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats, So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me empty, but shall do what pleases me, achieving the end for which I sent it. Yes, in joy you shall go forth, in peace you shall be brought home; Mountains and hills shall break out in song before you, all trees of the field shall clap their hands. In place of the thornbush, the cypress shall grow, instead of nettles, the myrtle. This shall be to the Lord’s renown, as an everlasting sign that shall not fail. Isaiah 55:10–13, NABRE

“This is the meaning of the parable. The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11, NABRE

Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. –Jesus, John 12:24, NABRE

There’s nothing wrong with the Sower.

There's nothing wrong with the Seed.

But what kind of Soil are you?

“A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up.” Matthew 13:4

The seed sown on the path is the one who hears the word of the kingdom without understanding it, and the evil one comes and steals away what was sown in his heart. Matthew 13:19, NABRE

Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, Matthew 13:5, NABRE

The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. But he has no root and lasts only for a time. When some tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, he immediately falls away. Matthew 13:20–21, NABRE

Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. Matthew 13:7, NABRE

But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.” Matthew 13:8–9, NABRE
